30 Beauty Tag Questions You've Always Wanted to Know About Me

Hey, Bombshells, How are y'all today? Well, I hope. I am doing pretty good. Today is pretty boring around here on the home front. So I've been looking around on good ole Google trying to find topics to talk about and I stumbled upon several tags so I saved several and choose this one today. I thought y'all would like to know a little bit more about me. Since I haven't talked about beauty much I thought this was very fitting.

1. Do you remember your first makeup item?
Hummm that is a tough one but it was prob eye shadow or lip gloss

 2. Describe your perfect mascara. Have you found one that fits your specifications?
Volume and lengthening. My holy grail is Too Faced Better Than Sex. I really like Lancome Hypnose but the smell is very strong, which is a downfall for me.

3. What kind of coverage do you prefer from foundation?
medium to full coverage

4. Favorite high-end brand?

5. What cosmetic brands have you always wanted to try but still haven’t?
Urban Decay, Kat Von D, And I really want to try Estée Lauder Double wear foundation!

6. Favorite drugstore brand?

7. Do you wear fake eyelashes?
Oh lord yes! Almost never leave home without a pair on.

 8. Is there any kind of makeup you can’t leave the house without?
A lip product. Usually my Vaseline lip care and whatever lipstick I put on.
9. What is your most cherished beauty product?
Hummmm.....They are all cherished to me.

10. How often do you shop for makeup? Do you like to pick up an item here and there or get lots of goodies at once?
I don't shop that often. I usually only shop if I am out of something.

11. Do you have a “beauty budget” or you spend freely?
Haha yeah right! I wish!

12. Do you utilize coupons, rewards cards, and sales when you shop for cosmetics?
Yes, At least I try too.

13. What type of product do you buy the most of?
Skincare only because it runs out quicker than any of my makeup.

 14. Is there a brand that you absolutely can’t stand?
Nope, not really.

15. Do you avoid certain ingredients in cosmetics like parabens or sulfates?
Not in my makeup. I do in my shampoo because I am allergic to it. If it's not in my makeup its a bonus but I don't typically search it out. If I am deciding between 2 products I will go for one the one that doesn't.

16. Do you have a favorite place to shop for makeup?
I've never been in Ulta or Sephora because of personal mental reasons I really need to get the hell over but ya know I'm a big girl and hate going into stores like that judge you. I've heard too many horror stories of their customer service!  But I love shopping from them online.

 17. Do you like trying new skincare products or do you keep a certain routine?
Absolutely! I love testing products. I love doing reviews. A lot of the time I find my new love product, I would have never known about.

18. Favorite bath and body brand?
Bath and Body works! Been a fan since I was a wee little one! (haha) My mom and sister would buy it all the time. Country Apple I think was the name. Holy moly that stuff smelled so good, now it brings back memories at the same time it makes me wanna puke! I got so sick of that smell!

19.  If you could only buy from one brand, which brand would you choose?
Ohhhh.... This is a tough one! Prob NYX or Maybelline.

20. What brand do you think has the best packaging?
Urban Decay, The Balm, or Too Faced

21. Which celebrity always has great makeup?
Gwen Stefani for more dramatic looks and Julia Roberts for more natural looks

22. Do you belong to any online makeup communities?
6543,Two, One, Makeup and several other Facebook groups.
Recommend some of your communities?  Leave me a comment!

 23. 5 Favorite Beauty Gurus
These are ones I never miss an episode. Beauty or not these are my top 5.
Tell me what your top 5 YouTubers are in the comments.

24. Do you like multifunctional products like lip and cheek stains?
No! To me, that just kinda grosses me out.
25. Are you clumsy in putting on makeup?
OMG yes! If you ever watch any of my get ready with me's on Periscope you learn real fast me and mascara have a love hate relationship!

Foundation

29. Do you ever consider taking makeup classes?
I have thought several times about going to Cosmetology school.

30. What do you love about makeup?
Everything. I love that it highlights my good assets and hides the bad ones. It makes me feel pretty and put together. It makes me take some me time, it's my form of meditation. It has given me an outlet to find new people and a way to make some amazing life long friends!I love that you can meet a stranger and spark a conversion over a lipstick and you instantly have a bond with someone you would've never talked to.

I think that's it. That was fun! Hopefully, you learned a little bit more about me. If you want me to do a Q&A or if you have any other topic ideas let me know in the comments.

Dumplin Book Review

Dumplin
By
Julie Murphy
 Genre:Young Adult,
Contemporary,
Romance, Fiction,
 Realistic Fiction

Published September 15th, 2015 by Balzer + Bray

Hardcover is 375 pages

Self-proclaimed fat girl Willlowdean Dickson (dubbed "Dumplin'" by her former beauty queen mom) has always been at home in her own skin. Her thoughts on having the ultimate bikini body? Put a bikini on your body. With her all-American-beauty best friend, Ellen, by her side, things have always worked...until Will takes a job at Harpy's, the local fast-food joint. There she meets Private School Bo, a hot former jock. Will isn't surprised to find herself attracted to Bo. But she is surprised when he seems to like her back.

Instead of finding new heights of self-assurance in her relationship with Bo, Will starts to doubt herself. So she sets out to take back her confidence by doing the most horrifying thing she can imagine: entering the Miss Teen Blue Bonnet beauty pageant--along with several other unlikely candidates--to show the world that she deserves to be up there as much as any twiggy girl does. Along the way, she'll shock the hell out of Clover City--and maybe herself most of all.

I picked up this book solely on the cover and the title. I mean “Go Big or Go Home” with a crown and a fat girl on the front, come on, hello, it was screaming at me from the shelf, of course, I picked it up!

When I grab this book from the library I had high hopes for me to get back into reading. I had this book in my possession for several weeks before I was finally forced to read it. We had a big storm blow through that knocked out my electric for over 24hrs so what better way to pass the time, right?

I really enjoyed this book. It was funny and witty. Dumplin has some of the best quotes, almost every chapter had me highlighting a quote. Some were funny while others were very thought provoking. I love Julie Murphy's realistic writing style. I have not read Julie’s other book, Side Effects May Vary, so I’m not sure if this is her normal writing style.

"I'm fat. It's not a cuss word. It's not an insult."

"...If it's not your body, it's not yours to comment on. Fat. Skinny. Short. Tall. It doesn't matter."

"...the perfection we perceive in others is made up of a whole bunch of tiny imperfections..."

I would highly suggest you pick this up for yourself. It definitely was not your typical "and they all lived happily ever after" type book. It had a lot of ups and downs, twists, and turns. I would give this book 4/5 only because I'm mad at the ending! Like a good movie that just ends with no closure, yup, that's why I'm mad! But I'd seriously give 5 stars!  It took me just a few days to read. So to me, it was a pretty quick read. There is some language in it, and some sex talk, just a heads up. I would definitely recommend it for a high school girl going through some body issues or anyone, for that matter, young or old, boy or girl. Dumplin made me think about what I thought about myself and how I perceive others and how they perceive me.

Dumplin is most definitely Bombshell approved!

Life Update

Holy moly it has been way too long! I just wanted to hop on here real quick and give yall a little update and apologize for being such a slacker!

I fell off the reading bandwagon for a while, but I started back a few months ago, so I will be doing book reviews again and monthly book updates.

A lot has happened in the last year. My father in law passed away in March from leukemia, part of the reason I went M.I.A. We had to move in with my mother in law to help my sister in law take care of him and help take care of my niece. Needless to say, it was crazy busy and beyond stressful.

We are still homeschooling but, Cadence is going back to public school this year! I am so scared and happy for her, lots of mixed emotions and anxiety. I know it is what she needs and will be good for her but that doesn't mean that this momma is okay with this new change! Haha, I will be...maybe be by the end of the year. Kord is staying home at least another year. (We school with a public school option at home called Epic One-on-One Charter School) We are working on getting his IEP finished and he will be in intensive reading therapy this year as well. Last year we were blessed with the most amazing teacher I could have ever asked for. She is our teacher again this year. She has worked so hard to get Kord to read, and I have no doubt that this year will be his breakthrough year!

Now for myself, well, not much to update either. Still no update on my disability. Still fighting the, what seems, the never ending battle. We did find out that I have Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, COPD, and of course Severe Asthma. So ummm, yeah, yay me! My lungs pretty much said screw you lets not work anymore! Haha! Around March I stumbled upon an amazing beauty community on Periscope. Some of the girls I have made life long friendships with. We talk nearly every day. Many of the girls have truly been a blessing to me. They have sent me "random acts of kindness" makeup boxes, makeup that I would have never been able to afford. They have been there to pull me out of a horrible depression slump. We even started a book club, part of the reason I am back to reading again. It has been great to have friends all over the world. If you're needing some amazing friends and LOVE makeup, I highly suggest joining our little community,{6543,Two, One, Makeup}. I also started a Youtube channel. I only have a few videos up. My computer crashed on me in the middle of editing a video! (insert crying huge rivers emoji!) I downloaded an app on my phone, so I hope to get back to videos soon as well. They won't be near as nicely edited but I suppose it will work for a temporary fix.

Hubby is doing good. He is busy working all the time. Not much to update on him.

That's about it on the homefront. Lots of little things happening and I can't wait to fill y'all in along the way. I am working on a few book reviews, so stay tuned for those.

Everyday Detox

I recently read the cook book Everyday Detox by Megan Gilmore. I was very happy I grabbed this book it gives you all the information you could ever want to improve your gut laying out how you should eat foods for better digestion, like eating animal protein with non-starchy veggies and then waiting 3-4 hours before switching categories.

In chapter 1 it explains how to detox and why eating this way is good for you. Its wrote in a way that even I could understand. It gives you a chart explaining each category and how to eat them, a seven day jumpstart menu, shopping plan.

Chapter 2 explains what and why you should have in your pantry and helpful kitchen tools.

Chapter 3 starts the wonderful recipes with Liquid Nourishment.

Chapter 4 is Morning Favorites

Chapter 5 Salads, Dressings and Sides.

Chapter 6 Soups Sandwiches and Wraps

Chapter 7 Casseroles and Comfort Food

Chapter 8 Sweet Treats

Chapter 9 Back to Basics

All the recipes are so yummy and the pictures that accompany them are beautiful.

I received this book from Blogging for Books  for an honest review.
